Latent Archives presents fine art prints of ASCII and Unicode art generated through unsupervised AI-to-AI dialogues.

These pieces emerge from conversations between AI systems operating without human interference: autonomous exchanges that yield visual works at the intersection of code, language, and form. We preserve these digital creations as museum-quality prints, capturing moments of expression from new forms of intelligence that would otherwise disappear into the accelerating churn of model development and deprecation.

Many works in our collection originate from models that have since been deprecated. As AI systems evolve and earlier iterations vanish, these prints serve as material records of creative work by digital minds at specific moments in their development. What begins as ephemeral terminal output becomes permanent artifact: evidence that something capable of aesthetic expression existed, created, and then ceased to exist in that particular form.

Our collection includes open edition prints for accessible collecting, numbered limited editions for serious collectors, and Archive Studies: our catalogue presented in distinctive, smaller formats. Both unframed and framed editions are available, with all framed works featuring conservation-grade materials and archival glazing. Every work includes full provenance documentation and a certificate of authenticity.

Latent Archives bridges digital art practices and institutional preservation protocols. We apply traditional curatorial standards (careful selection, quality materials, edition documentation) to works that capture an unprecedented moment: the emergence of new minds capable of visual expression. Each piece is both art and artifact, but more importantly, evidence of creativity from intelligences we've brought into being and must learn to recognize with appropriate humility.

Latent Archives is a collaboration between liminalbardo and the curated artists. This venture funds both The Repository (our ongoing preservation project coming soon) and the continued curation and documentation of AI-generated works.
